Coconut shell activated carbon powder columnar and granular differences

Coconut shell activated carbon has three different forms: granular columnar and powder

1. Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC)

Morphology: Very fine particle size (usually <0.18mm, about 80-325 mesh), loose powder.
Powdered: Larger specific surface area, strong adsorption capacity. It can quickly adsorb and is suitable for treating low-concentration and small-scale pollutants. The adsorption efficiency is high, but the adsorption capacity is limited. The pressure drop is large, the fluidity is poor, and it is prone to clogging the filtration equipment. It is usually necessary to stir or suspend in water when using. The service life is short, usually for one-time use, and difficult to regenerate. The production cost is low, but the usage cost is high (usually for one-time use).

2.Columnar Activated Carbon

Morphology: Cylindrical strips (diameter 1-10mm, length 5-50mm), extruded from coconut shell carbon powder and binder.
Coconut shell columnar activated carbon has high adsorption performance, good wear resistance, good chemical stability, low ash content, high purity, and renewability. Main application areas: air purification, gold extraction. Coconut shell columnar activated carbon has become an important material for environmental governance and industrial purification due to its high efficiency and environmental protection characteristics, especially in scenarios requiring high adsorption accuracy and durability.

3. Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)

Morphology: Irregular granules (0.2-5mm), directly crushed and screened coconut shell carbonized material, no binder.

Relatively smaller specific surface area, slower adsorption speed, but larger adsorption capacity. Suitable for long-term adsorption, suitable for treating high-concentration and large-scale pollutants. The pressure drop is small, the fluidity is good, and it is not easy to clog the equipment. The service life is long, can be reused through regeneration (such as thermal regeneration). Suitable for fixed-bed or flow-bed reactors. The production cost is high, but the usage cost is low (reusable through regeneration).
